Training & Instruction

BASIC AEROBATICS

The Basic Aerobatics course is designed to expose the student to the exciting and fun world of aerobatics. It includes Aileron Rolls, Loops, Hammerheads, Spins, Half and Full Cuban Eights, and other maneuvers depending on ability and the desire to learn.

Each flight is preceded by ground instruction to cover the maneuvers being taught. This course can be as little as 2 hours, and up to 5 hours depending on how far the student wants to go. This is an excellent course for all pilots, regardless of ability, experience, or ratings. It is a great confidence builder, and best of all, is just plain fun!

PILOT INSTRUCTION

Flight training is offered for Private through Commercial and CFI/CFII. This training can be done in the students airplane or a Cessna 172 I have access to. If you need finish up work, accelerated Instrument Training, a Flight Review, or just Refresher Training, I can provide that here at my school or your location. Training can be tailor made to your requirements.

STALL/SPIN TRAINING

All CFI applicants are required to complete ground and flight training and receive a logbook endorsement covering spin entry, recognition, and recovery techniques as per 14 CFR 61.183(i) before taking the CFI practical test. This course consists of 1 hour of ground instruction, and 1 hour of flight training to meet this requirement.

Applicants will be taught to purposely enter a full 1-1 1/2 turn spin and the proper recovery techniques, once that is done, the applicant will be taught to recover from an incipient spin quickly with a minimum of altitude loss. This course is taught using the PARE technique, (Power to idle, Ailerons neutral, Rudder opposite direction of the spin, and Elevator forward). Stall/Spin training is an essential, required skill for every CFI, but is also available, and recommended, to all pilots.

Tail WHeel Training

If you would like to enter the exciting world of Tail Draggers, I offer training to students who have sufficient training and experience in nose wheel airplanes, and preferably with constant speed props. This will be taught in my Super Decathlon and will fulfill the requirements of 14 CFR 61.31(i) for a tailwheel endorsement.

This course will take between 4 and 10 hours depending on the students ability and prior experience. It includes ground instruction explaining the characteristics of tailwheel airplanes, including ground loop awareness, three point and wheel landings, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this type of aircraft. Upon finishing this course, the student will be proficient in all aspects of tailwheel operations.

Upset Recovery Training (UPRT)

This course is designed to teach the student to recover from extreme unusual attitudes sometimes associated with pilot disorientation, severe turbulence, wind shear encounters, and other situations where the pilot may find the aircraft inverted, nose up vertical, nose down vertical, and other attitudes not associated with normal flight.

The course is 1 hour of ground instruction and 1-2 hours of flight training. At the end of this course the student will be able to recognize unusual attitudes and recover with a minimum of altitude loss. We will utilize the Look, Unload, Roll, and Recover, technique. This course is recommended to all pilots regardless of experience or ratings.

PILOT & FERRY SERVICES

I’m always ready to hire myself out as an occasional pinch hitter. If you need someone to pilot your airplane or provide some co-pilot services while you go on a flight you would feel better having some help with, I can provide that.  I can also do your flight review, help with night currency, or any other services requiring a current pilot. This is assuming I’m proficient in the airplane you’re using.

If you need an aircraft ferried, I am very flexible and proficient in many common single engine airplanes, both tailwheel and nose wheel. Just contact me and I’ll see what I can do. There will be a per-day fee plus expenses.
